Day 87: To Hike Or Not To Hike...

Woke up early and took over the complimentary breakfast. Xan and Neutron got an early ride back to the trail with Gene. Tattoo, Mountain Tattoo, Klarity and Dumpster Bear had plans to check out the Yeungling brewery in the afternoon, but Scatters, One Life and I were set on hiking out today. First, though, we were going to get the most out of the AC in the room. Check-out wasn't until noon!

We chilled out and packed up and chilled out more until about 11:50, then we checked out, left our bags at the front desk, said goodbye to the brewery kids and walked a few blocks to Cracker Barrell for lunch. It was waaaay too hot to start hiking at noon.

Delicious lunch. On the way out, we ran into Stick Built who had recently come off the trail due to a pinched nerve that shot pains down his leg (boo!). Well, he had his wife and car in town and offered us a ride back to Port Clinton. Nice! We stopped by the post office again to mail off a few more things, and my postcard from Roxanne was there - yay!! Thanks, Rox!!

By this time, we really were NOT feeling the hiking thing. We had tried to get another room at the Microtel, but they were full. Our only other option (small town) was the Port Clinton hotel. We checked to see if they had a room, and they did, so we took it. Zero number two, here we were!

We dumped our stuff in the small room and took naps. We were just so drained by the big miles in the heat this past week. We were tired! Tomorrow is supposed to be a lot cooler, and we are so ready for lower temps.

Around 6:30, we met up with Stick Built, his wife Sandy and Wizard from Oz and Tripper - I hadn't seen them since right out of Hot Springs!! We all had a great [over-priced] dinner at the B&B, and caught up on all the stories and adventures. After the sun went down, we were all ready for bed. We said our goodbyes and headed back to the room to watch Titanic before bed.

We shall definitely get back on the trail tomorrow!!
